The most important strategy you can implement for gut health and metabolism is nervous system regulation.
What is nervous system regulation? Well, our nervous system has two systems. We have our sympathetic, which is our fight or flight or our gas pedal, and we have parasympathetic, which is rest and digest, also known as the brake pedal.
Ideally, our lives are constantly stimulating this gas pedal, but high gas pedal without any brake pedal leaves us stressed out and exhausted. Impacts the gut health because digestion is specifically related to the parasympathetic brake pedal. Rest, regulate, restore, and digest.
High gas pedal or over-sympathetic or synthetic dominance leads to high cortisol. High cortisol leads to high inflammation, unwanted weight gain, and accumulated fatigue, which really disrupts our metabolism.
So how can you regulate your nervous system? You can regulate your nervous system by intentionally pushing the brake pedal.
Intentionally push the brake pedal through chiropractic adjustments, non-sleep deep rest, meditation, or other things that intentionally bring rest and digest into our lives and focus on decreasing the amount of stimuli or stress pushing the gas pedal.
Ultimately, there's not a magic supplement or even diet that can overcome a dysregulated nervous system.
