He earned his doctorate in nuclear physics before heading Australia’s largest telecommunications companies, including Optus, Telstra and the NBN Corporation. He chaired the Australian Government’s inquiry into uranium mining processing and nuclear energy in Australia before becoming Chairman of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation in 2007.
