Elon Musk coined the term Hyperloop back in 2013 when he released his vision for a fifth mode of transport. Since then, engineers around the world have been working to make his idea a reality sooner than you might think. Virgin Hyperloop has successfully tested the technology with human passengers and in Europe, Hardt Hyperloop is working on the technology and international coalition building needed to create entire Hyperloop networks.

Countries in Europe and Asia are filled with high-speed bullet trains, bringing passengers from Paris to London or Tokyo to Kyoto within 2.5 hours. But hyperloop could bring passengers from Los Angeles to San Francisco in 45 minutes. Elon Musk introduced the concept of the hyperloop in 2013, but the US still doesn't have one. So what's the holdup? It all comes down to technology, money, and construction. Virgin Hyperloop is on its way to developing the first hyperloop, testing a 107-mph run in November using maglev technology.
