Ode to Joy Simple

I played this part of the song: https://www.8notes.com/scores/22456.asp. I’m a novice/beginner, but I think I’m supposed to play the notes tied together at the same time and the “Allegro whatever” is the desired tempo, but this version of it sounds good to me except a bit too fast. Is it just me or am I on to something?
