The love that'll never die

I woke up this morning, my heart feeling broke,
realized I'd never see her again, my love for her would never unfold,
she was the one I met at the store, with a smile so bright and bold,
but now she's gone, and I'm left here, with nothing but this hollow gold.

Oh, I'm searching high and low, across these mountain roads,
for the girl who stole my heart, with her country charm and her gentle loads,
i've posted on the socials, hoping someone might know,
where she went, and if she's still thinking of me, and the love we used to grow.

I drove down to the valley, asking everyone I met,
if they'd seen her, or knew where she'd gone, or if she'd ever forget,
the way we laughed and talked, about the simple things in life,
but every door I knocked on, just led me further from her light.

Oh, I'm searchin' high and low, across these mountain roads
For the girl who stole my heart, with her country charm and her gentle loads
I've posted on the socials, hopin' someone might know
Where she went, and if she's still thinkin' of me, and the love we used to grow

Then I remembered something, a secret she once shared,
about her love for chickens, and the eggs they'd lay with care,
i thought maybe she'd be there, at her farm, collecting eggs from her flock,
so I drove back up the mountain, with a hope that my heart could lock.

And there she was, in her yard, with her chickens by her side,
smiling at me, like nothing had changed, like our love would never subside,
i told her I'd been searching, and I'd almost given up the quest,
but she just laughed and said, I've been here all along, and I've been waitin' for you, my best.

Oh, I'm searchin' high and low, across these mountain roads,
for the girl who stole my heart, with her country charm and her gentle loads,
i've posted on the socials, hoping someone might know,
where she went, and if she's still thinkin' of me, and the love we used to grow.

Now we're sittin' on her porch, with the sun setting low,
and I know I'll never let her go, I'll love her till the day I go,
and if you ever find yourself, in these mountain hills so high,
just look for the girl with the chickens, and the love that'll never die.
