Milunka Savić was a heroic military figure from Serbia, distinguished in the Balkan Wars and World War I. Disguised as a man, she fought in place of her sick brother, earning several medals and the respect of both allies and enemies. Wounded nine times, she was the only woman to receive the French Croix de Guerre. After the war, she faced hardships, including the Nazi occupation and poverty. She died in 1972, without the due recognition, but her story continues to inspire
