Driver Rolls Vehicle, Serious Injuries, Intoxication Suspected, GOODRICH, June 23, 2024 - At approximately 2:30 pm on June 23, 2024, the driver of a silver 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SUV) was east-bound on FM-1988 East when he left the pavement to the right, continued through a ditch, crashed through a fence and rolled multiple times and came to rest up right in a front yard. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, and Trooper Sean Barnes with The Texas Highway Patrol. The driver, Angel Merino Candido, 47, of Goodrich, remained in his vehicle while his son, Juan, 21, exited the vehicle and sat down. Angel Candido sustained serious injuries including a head injury, broken ribs, and a possible spinal injury. Both were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital (Juan's injuries were less severe). Angel Candido was transferred to Conroe due to the extent of his injuries. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Candido is suspected of intoxication and could be facing intoxication assault charges due to his son's injuries. Candido's vehicle was recovered by Kwik Tow out of Goodrich. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
