Horse's face massage turns into adorable interaction

Blaze lives on a farm near Millbrook, along with many other horses. His paddock meets the road at a spot where Dave often cycles or walks past. The two have become good friends in the past year or two, with Dave regularly bringing Balze a treat. Often, it's an apple or a carrot and once, Blaze even decided that he wanted a drink of Dave's apple juice right out of the bottle when Dave stopped by on his bike.

Today, Dave stopped at the paddock and gave Blaze his treat and then got out hiss camera to take a selfie. Blaze stuck his head over the fence obligingly and posed happily. But what Blaze was really interested in was the face rub that started at thee same time as the photos. Most animals have an itchy spot or a spot that they want rubbed or scratched. To find it will guarantee you an instant friend. Dave must have found just the right spot because Blaze's eyes became droopy and he stood still, leaning on Dave, taking it all in. His head was getting heavier on Dave's shoulder as the face massage continued and even his lower lip became very droopy and quivery as this was going on.

Whenever Dave stopped rubbing, Blaze would nudge him or move his head over to the other shoulder as if demanding attention on both sides of his face.

Horses are remarkably intelligent and also very curious. It's very possible that Blaze was aware that Dave was laughing with delight at what was going on. They also have a sense of humor and respond when people are happy or amused. It's possible that his wobbly lip and playful nudging were the equivalent of a horse laugh. Either way, this perceptive horse seemed to be as happy with the interaction as Dave was.
