The Yorkshire Wolds Railway was inaugurated at a meeting held at the Old Lodge Hotel on Old Maltongate, Malton, North Yorkshire on Friday 10th October 2008 with the aim of restoring at least a part of the former Malton & Driffield Junction Railway as a heritage railway attraction.

Planning permission is already in place for the next phase of our journey towards Wetwang Green Lane, and we are now actively seeking donations to help make this extension a reality. Everything is possible, and if you would like to break it out to a cost per sleeper, it is around the £160 mark! Such is the cost of maintaining and running a railway.
