Jeremiah 18:1-4, a state of humility called "brokenness" or a contrite heart, where the clay gives control back to the potter.

The process was were he was made perfect: to be the primary representation of what it meant to be perfect in Christ, being 100% obedient to God, without sin, sacrificing Himself to God the Father, to satisfy God's requirement to pay for sin (to die in the place of the sinner).
