Whitewater Kayaking Neuse River (Milburnie Area)

We’re in a bit of a dry spell this summer, but I wanted to take the kayak out on the only rapids that I knew to be running. I don’t normally get excited about the Neuse River and unfortunately the one rapid I like about a mile above the Milburnie dam had construction and a newly constructed dam on the more fun river right side. I did the river left which was still open today and then headed back to Milburnie dam. It was a bit scrapey, but better than nothing. I put in at a sketchy little creek on the tail end of Bridges Lake to start since access was closed by the old dam site.
