Description
The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is a large feline known for its incredible speed and agility. It is the fastest land animal, capable of reaching speeds up to 60-70 miles per hour (97-113 km/h) in short bursts covering distances up to 500 meters. Native to Africa and parts of Iran, cheetahs prefer open savannahs and grasslands where they can use their speed to hunt prey such as gazelles and other small to medium-sized ungulates. Cheetahs are characterized by their slender, lightweight bodies, long legs, and distinctive black tear stripes that run from the inner corners of their eyes to the sides of their mouths. Their coat is tan with black spots, providing excellent camouflage in their natural habitat. Cheetahs have a small, rounded head, a short muzzle, and a long tail that helps with balance and steering during high-speed chases.
