"The Message of Bethlehem"
26th In our series the Prophet Micah

I. The Judgment of God - Psalm 9:15-19
* A. Nations fall into sin and degradation of their own making
* B. God’s judgment involves the wicked ensnaring themselves
* 1. What hope is there for a nation that forgets God?
* a. Massive, complete, unmistakable repentance
* b. A revival which restores true justice and righteousness in the land
* 2. Paths of Judgment which God employs against nations
* a. A time of famine in which food is scarce
* b. Disease or natural catastrophe
* c. Financial disaster, economic collapse
* d. War & the devastation which ensues - Micah 5:1

II. A Message of Hope in spite of the coming Judgment - Micah 5:2
* A. Bethlehem the backwater of little apparent significance
* 1. The thousands speaks of the structure of the Hebrew Republic as God designed it - Exodus 18:19-23
* a. Every ten families would choose one to judge 
* b. Bethlehem was so small it didn’t have anyone as the ruler of a thousand families
* 2. Yet Bethlehem would bring forth to God the Ruler of Israel 
* B. The Messiah who is God incarnate - the everlasting God
* 1. Interesting that the Chief Priests skipped this part of the prophecy - Matthew 2:1-8
* 2. The Coming Messiah would fulfill all the glorious prophecies about the Kingdom of God in Two Advents
* a. But only after the Judgements of God fall 
* b. The parallel for us is the coming Tribulation which will precede the 2nd Advent of Jesus
