Description
Basalt meal soil improver for clay soil is highly effective in improving clay soils. It is characterized by exceptionally high electromagnetic values. When applied, it reacts with the clay-humus complex, causing the clay to crumble and breaking the bond between clay particles. As a result, the soil becomes more friable and easier to work with. Basalt meal also has the positive property of fixing nitrogen, preventing it from being washed away quickly. In summary, the soil becomes easier to cultivate and gains a better structure. Additionally, it contains high concentrations of silicon, lime, magnesium, and trace elements that enrich the soil. This product is 100% finely ground basalt, sourced from volcanic rock in the Eifel region.

Vulcanic Basalt Meal
Basalt is an alkaline volcanic igneous rock that forms from the cooling of lava or magma on the earth’s surface. Basalt is rich in minerals as it solidifies as an eruption rock. In organic farming, it is used as a dusting powder to physically increase resistance against pests and diseases. The powder forms a barrier against diseases. Young volcanic basalt rock contains silicon, trace elements, and minerals. This not only makes (heavy) clay soil more workable but also benefits the plants. It strengthens the cell walls and stimulates growth. In a good soil structure, plants can root better.

Another advantage of using basalt meal is its ability to fix nitrogen. Many farmers use this natural product to strengthen the natural resilience of plants and keep pests and diseases at bay. Basalt meal is easy to distribute on the plants. It is advisable to spray it with water to mix it well with the clay soil. Additionally, it contains high concentrations of silicon, lime, magnesium, and trace elements that enrich the soil.

The intensive use of our soils constantly puts them under pressure. The decades-long one-sided use of artificial fertilizers with only a few elements depletes the soil. Mineral fertility decreases, the humus content, structure, and resilience of the soil worsen. As a result, plants become less resilient, and our food contains fewer vital minerals and trace elements. Simply applying artificial fertilizers does not seem to allow the soils to recover sustainably. The use of basalt as a natural mineral source to enhance soil fertility has been known for a long time but was displaced due to the focus on modern synthetic fertilizers. Organifer has been committed to using basalt meal since 2009 to restore soil quality sustainably on clay soils.

Fineness and Values
Basalt meal soil improver for clay soils has the optimal fineness for rapid and long-lasting effect. The finer the meal, the larger the workable surface.

▶ 100% below 0.125 mm and 90% below 0.04 mm, 75% below 0.025 mm
▶ Very effective due to an extremely high paramagnetic value of around 10,000 CGS

Usage Instructions
Basalt meal can be applied and distributed throughout the year. Frequency and duration of application depend on soil conditions.

Tip: Work the basalt meal into the soil or spray it with water to achieve quick results!
