Nocturne - Composed by Fadi Kallab

Instead of being a Nocturne in the traditional musical meaning of the term, this music rather depicts the nocturnal impressions of a wakeful person. Divided into four short sections preceded by an introductory prelude, each governed by a specific tempo and the gradual transformation of an "interval of second" motive in each section, the first section starts by portraying the feelings of sadness and loneliness of the approaching night ("lonely are the stars, lonely is the night"). In the second section, the enlargement of the initial motive reflects lyrical sensations as the night matures. The third section, stylistically different from the previous ones, illustrates feelings of anxiety ("The eerie darkness holds me in shackles"). The final section closes this cycle by praising the glory of the night.
