Is The Nikon F100 The Best Cheap Film Camera?
In 1999 Nikon released the Nikon F100 as a slightly downgraded version of the Nikon F5, its flagship 35mm film camera at the time. Online the Nikon F100 has been labeled a cheaper, AA battery powered Nikon F6. What does that mean? It means that the Nikon F100 works very much like a modern digital camera, with many of the same features. The Nikon F100 has auto focus, aperture and shutter priority modes. It also has a fully automatic program mode for those who do not want to deal with any part of the exposure triangle. All you need to do is load the film, point the camera, and push the shutter button. With that in mind, I would say the Nikon F100 is the perfect starting point for anyone looking to get into film photography. The optional battery grip augments the Nikon F100's capabilities even further by allowing its motor drive to take 5 photos per second. The Nikon F100 is an amazing camera from the final years of film photography's dominance.
