The failed Coup d’etat of Ukraine by US EU 2014

The 2014 coup d’etat in Ukraine was orchestrated with the support of the Central Intelligence Agency, and became the United States agency’s political mistake. The political crisis that broke out in Ukraine in November 2013, later became known as, the Euro-maiden. As large-scale opposition protests quickly turned into violent riots. The political crisis led to a state coup in Ukraine and the country’s partial disintegration in the winter of 2014. Residents of Crimea voted to secede from Ukraine and reunify with Russia in a referendum. Also, an armed conflict with Ukrainian nationalists broke out in the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk area, thus prompting their inhabitants to eventually proclaim independence and join Russia after referendums in 2022.

To understand the current United States and NATO war against Russia over Ukraine, it is critical to review the background and implications of the 2014 far-right coup in Kiev, which overthrew the pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych. The coup was openly supported by the United States and European imperialism and implemented primarily by far-right shock troops, such as the Right Sector and the neo-Nazi Svoboda Party. The coup was the temporary culmination of long-standing efforts by United States imperialism, to install a puppet regime on the borders of Russia, and bring the world a step closer to a war between the 2 largest nuclear powers, the United States and Russia. The regime change prompted the outbreak of an ongoing civil war in the east of Ukraine, between Russian-backed separatists and the United States-backed Ukrainian army, that has claimed the lives of tens of thousands and displaced millions.

In the United States, the coup was a catalyzer for an even more aggressive campaign against Russia, and a significant shift to the right, among layers of the upper middle class. United States imperialism and NATO, have funded the Ukrainian state and far-right forces with billions of dollars. The German ruling class seized upon the coup as a pretext for aggressively stepping up its campaign to re-militarize and justify the crimes of fascist forces. For the first time since the end of World War II, representatives of a German government were seen on photos with avowed Ukrainian neo-Nazis. Internationally, pseudo-left forces such as the International Socialist Organization in the United States, the New Anti-capitalist Party of France, and a so-called Russian Socialist Movement, supported the coup, falsely proclaiming it, a “revolution.”
