Dr. Daniele Ganser: On the Threshold of Multipolarity

We need a system that is focused on multipolarity. The system of the unipolar world order no longer fits today and does not offer any solutions to current problems. After the collapse of the USSR in 1991 and the end of the Cold War, a 30-year period began in which the United States claimed unipolar leadership in the world. This period of unipolarity was a time of bitter experiences, of war and destruction. For several years now, we have been in a transitional period in which the BRICS states and other countries are trying to break new ground, thereby triggering dynamic debates and processes. It is difficult to say exactly when the age of multipolarity began. Some choose the year 2021, 30 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union. There are different assessments of this, but many journalists, scientists and politicians, with very different positions, agree that the world will change inexorably in the next few years. The time of unipolarity is over. The era of multipolarity has begun.
