Hanoi: Russia's Vladimir Putin in Vietnam To Strengthen Ties, US Condemns Visit

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Hanoi on Thursday morning for a state visit to strengthen ties with Vietnam, Russian news agencies reported. Coming from a high-profile trip to North Korea, Putin landed in the Southeast Asian country with a large group of senior Russian ministers and business leaders. He was welcomed by the Vietnamese Deputy PM at the Hanoi airport. The Russian President met with his Vietnamese counterpart To Lam and said he was expecting to discuss all aspects of the two countries' relations. He is also expected to meet Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Communist Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong. This is Putin's first Vietnam visit since 2017 and his fifth in total.
