This is reminiscent of the Big Pharma model that creates a disastrous cycle of long-term dependence, profiting chemical manufacturers enormously. When landowners can no longer sustain the high cost of continuing the normal growth processes, they are forced to turn the keys over to a behemoth industry and walk away from multi-generational farms.
