The Two Witnesses in Revelation 11: They appear during the Tribulation Period: Who are they?

The two witnesses begin their ministry at the beginning of the Tribulation period. They are real people. They are prophets. They are connected to the rebuilt Jewish Temple during the Tribulation period. The Anti-Christ makes a treaty with Israel but it is a false peace. He breaks it in the last 3 1/2 years of this period. The two prophet are granted amazing powers during their ministry, which only last 3 1/2 years. Who are they? Why are they here? What is their mission?
