Across the Gaza Strip, mountains of rubbish areposing severe dangers to health and the environment.
In eight months of war, more than 330,400 tonnes ofsolid waste are estimated to have built up in thePalestinian territory, according to the UN andhumanitarian agencies working on sanitation.
Some of the more than one million people whorecently fled Israel's military offensive in the southerncity of Rafah have been forced to live in open areasthat had already been turned into temporary refuse tips.
Since the deadly 7 October Hamas-led attacks, Israel'smilitary has blocked access to the border area, whichis where Gaza's two main landfill sites are located.
