To Whom This May Concern,

Dear Toronto was written because it stemmed from questions that had me awake during night hours. A few of them would be, where do I belong in this realm of Hip-Hop? And If I don’t belong in the landscape of what Hip hop is currently portrayed to be, how can I co-exist? And would the city that I live in respect what I’m doing and see its value? With all honesty, these questions initially geared me to have doubt. I thought if labels like OVO sound and websites like toronto rappers are saturated with the same content, maybe I should give up. And truth be told, I did, for literally a few months. (For those who have been away from something they are passionate about, you know the feeling) It may not a long time for most people but for a person whose been writing poetry and songs since the age of 11, it is pretty much damn near eternity. All in all, my overall sentiment is that, Dear Toronto is almost like my own bat call, a symbolic gesture of hope. And not only that I wish it to be with my own subconscious mind, I would like this song remind you that it’s okay to be who you are, as much as you humanely can. And no matter what may come to distract you from that truth, always think of “This won’t be my last breathe, nor my last step”
