Women's Prison (1955) follows the story of a women’s prison, where the warden, Amelia van Zandt (Ida Lupino), is a beautiful yet icy spinster who inflicts harsh punishments on the inmates. The story revolves around two new prisoners, Brenda Martin (Jan Sterling) and Helene Jensen (Phyllis Thaxter), who are introduced to the harsh realities of prison life. The film explores the relationships between the prisoners and the wardens, including the sadistic and borderline psychotic behavior of Warden van Zandt.
