A river of lava flowed through Hawaii's Big Island on Saturday. A dramatic clip showed the fiery liquid running down Leilani Estates with giant lava bubbles bursting. Trees in the path of the lava instantly caught fire. "This was a very emotional event for me to witness the destruction and beauty of my Island," said the filmer. Thursday's eruption of the Kilauea volcano prompted a local state of emergency and the mandatory evacuation of 1,700 residents.

Since May 5th, Hawaii’s most active volcano, Kilauea has been spewing out lava and molten rock on a residential area called Leilani Estates. This is a footage of a river of lava flows through Hawaii's Big Island. Overall, this video is a reminder of how wild and powerful nature can be.

Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, has been erupting on and off for hundreds of thousands of years and has been had been erupting continuously since 1983 with only occasional pauses of quiet activity. The lava occasionally flows into the ocean, expanding the boundaries of the Big Island and providing breathtaking views for tourists.
