Description
Iron Sulphate fertiliser for a dense, lush green lawn without moss. Also suitable for providing other garden plants with iron. The high iron content contributes to a better competitive strength of the lawn against unwanted mosses and weeds. Iron sulphate plays a crucial role in the photosynthesis of (grass) plants. The fertiliser ensures that plants absorb sunlight well, increasing their resistance and preventing leaf diseases from easily occurring.

Combat moss in lawns with Iron Sulphate
The presence of moss in a lawn can never be traced back to a single cause. Moss in the lawn is often a result of too acidic soil, infertile soil, too wet soil, or because the grass has been cut too short. When the grass thins out, mosses get the chance to show up. Prevention is, of course, better than cure, however, many lawn owners sooner or later deal with moss growth. Our advice is to fertilise with Organifer Lawn Fertiliser All-In-One three times a year (spring – summer – autumn) after removing dead moss, so your turf stays in top condition. Should the pH of the soil be lower than 5.5, we advise to carry out liming with Organifer lime fertiliser or algae lime.

When to use Iron Sulphate?
Apply in early spring (March/April) or early autumn (September/October) 20 to 25 g/m² of iron fertiliser evenly on stressed and mossy lawns. Apply Organifer Iron Sulphate Fertiliser at least a week before scarifying the lawn for the best result. Iron sulphate is often called a moss killer but also improves the plant’s resilience. Because iron sulphate kills moss so effectively, it is mainly used for this purpose. Trouble with moss in the lawn? This fertiliser ensures that the moss dies within a few days and grass becomes more resistant. Temperatures above 10°C support the effect.

Instructions for use Iron Sulphate fertiliser
For the best result, iron sulphate can best be applied in dry weather just before a rain shower. Repeat fertilisation if necessary. Organifer iron sulphate works quickly. Rake dead moss residues out of the lawn after operation. We advise against spreading iron sulphate during a rain shower. Not because this does not yield a good spreading result, but purely because iron sulphate starts to stain enormously. When iron sulphate ends up on clothing, shoes or paving, brown rust stains are created that can no longer be removed. After rain or irrigation, iron sulphate will start its work, do not enter the lawn for the first few days until iron sulphate is fully absorbed into the soil and can no longer cause stains.

▶Mix Iron Sulphate into sand Iron sulphate can be administered in several ways. An age-old way to spread iron sulphate is by mixing it with sand and then applying it to the lawn. Use 1 kilogram of Organifer iron sulphate combined with 2 kilograms of sand per 50 m².

▶Spread Iron Sulphate fertiliser directly on the lawn This fertiliser can be spread directly on the turf. Here, dosage can be slightly increased in places with a lot of moss and decreased where less moss is present.

▶Dissolve in water and spread with a watering can or sprayer What may be even simpler is to dissolve the iron sulphate in water. Dissolve about 100 grams of iron sulphate in 5 litres of water. Use, for example, a watering can or pressure sprayer to spread the product evenly.

▶If garden plants show signs of iron deficiency, such as pale leaves and yellowing of young shoots, dissolve 20 g/m2 of iron fertilizer in the irrigation water and apply it evenly.

In heavily strained areas, fertilization can be repeated after 8 to 10 weeks. Iron fertilizer is not a complete fertilizer. Every lawn also needs a full fertilizer with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium for healthy growth. We recommend applying our Organifer All-In-One Lawn Fertilizer three times a year to keep the lawn in good condition.

Dosage for Lawns / Sports Fields / Golf Courses
From March to October

▶ Application rate: 20 – 25 g/m²

(1 full tablespoon of iron fertilizer weighs about 18 g, 1 handful about 50 g)

* After fertilizing, wait to mow or walk on the lawn until the iron sulfate has seeped into the soil through rain or irrigation.
** Fertilize before rainfall or water thoroughly after fertilization
*** The recommended amounts depend on many factors, such as the amount of moss, the condition of the grass, the climate, and the fertilization status of the soil.

Be careful with iron sulfate!
Iron fertilizer causes rust stains on floors (concrete slabs, tiles, etc.) and clothing. Immediately remove any fertilizer that has been accidentally spilled on slabs. Also, watch out for residue adhering to the soles of shoes and animal paws. Only walk on fertilized lawns once the fertilizer has been thoroughly watered in.
