Description
Sports and Play Lawn Seed – Resilient contains the ideal formula for a lawn that must withstand foot traffic. Its ultra-fast germination and formidable competitive strength guarantee a robust and self-repairing lawn. This mixture was crafted for professional sports fields and is the ultimate sports lawn seed blend. It’s also widely used on campsites and festival grounds, as well as parks where grass needs to be resilient to foot traffic and possess a strong capacity for self-repair.

Sports and Play Lawn Seed – Resilient combines high foot traffic tolerance and rapid establishment with an exceptional ability to recover. This grass seed blend establishes, germinates, and recovers quickly. Sports Lawn Seed – Resilient ensures a dense turf in which moss and weeds stand no chance. This is a professional grass seed blend, perfectly suited for the sowing of play lawns or sports fields. With its rapid germination, it swiftly covers bare patches. Many gardeners and sports field managers consistently opt for the Sports Lawn Seed – Resilient formula because of its extremely rapid emergence and establishment, high recovery ability, and beautiful appearance. A significant portion of fine English ryegrass facilitates swift establishment, and the combination with creeping bentgrass results in an extraordinarily robust turf.

Steps for Sowing Grass
Plough the soil or dig it up (around 25 cm), remove weeds, and level the ground. If desired, apply soil enhancers before sowing.
First sow the outer edges with Sports Lawn Seed – Resilient.
Then sow diagonally, once lengthways and once widthways, across the entire area with Sports Lawn Seed – Resilient.
Rake the grass seed lightly into the soil (0.5-1 cm).
Walk over or roll the grass seed to compact it.
Gently water with a fine spray if it doesn’t rain within 24 hours of sowing.
Once the grass reaches a height of about 10cm, it’s time for the first mowing. Don’t cut the grass too short straight away, instead mow it slightly shorter each week until it’s about 3-4cm tall.
Fertilise the lawn for the first time a week after emergence with Lawn Feed All-In-One and fertilise subsequently three times a year (in spring/summer/autumn).

Sowing Period
From March to November

Sowing in Late Summer

Late summer (mid-August – September) is an excellent time to sow grass. The soil retains the summer’s warmth for a while. Weed pressure is also lower at this time than in spring. This warmth, combined with ample moisture, creates ideal conditions for grass seed germination. Grass sowing can often start once the hottest and driest part of the summer has passed, usually in September, but sometimes in October.

Sowing in Spring

Spring is also a good time to sow grass, though slightly less ideal than early autumn. This is due to the soil temperature. The often bitterly cold winter and chilly nights make germination challenging for the seeds, allowing birds to easily snatch them. Also, a lot of weeds tend to sprout during this period. It’s quite challenging to remove weeds that have rooted in your lawn. If you still wish to sow in spring, it’s best to wait until the ground has sufficiently warmed up (10°C, from April to the end of June).
