The CDC reports that “Double Mutant” strains of influenza with some resistance to antiviral drugs have been discovered in the United States.

At least two cases of so-called double mutant flu strains have been detected in the United States, according to the CDC. These strains have genetic changes that could affect the effectiveness of the main antiviral flu drug commonly used by hospitals under the brand name Tamiflu. Tests carried out by scientists in Hong Kong showed that the mutations are 16 times less sensitive to flu treatment
