The last FA Cup Final of the 20th Century and the next to last one held at the old Wembley Stadium.

Manchester United were going for a League, Domestic (FA) Cup and European Cup Treble after a storming season. The only Cup which they failed to reach the final of was that season's League Cup (played between Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City).

Galvanised by the attacking prowess of Sheringham, Solksjaer and Cole as well as the amazing skills of Beckham and Giggs out wide with Keane and Scholes bossing the midfield, one of the best defensive back fours in Europe and the amazing Schmeichel in goal, Manchester United started as favourites but knew that Newcastle United would be tough opponents out to spoil their big day.

Newcastle United were not short of quality, with Shearer, Solano, Speed (RIP), Hamann, Ketsbaia, Domi, Charvet and many other top players turning out for the Magpies and this match would go down as a classic.
