A powerful storm in Turkey
On the evening of June 6, Ankara experienced sudden and severe rainfall, causing streets and avenues to flood within just five minutes and bringing traffic to a standstill. Numerous road accidents occurred in high-traffic areas, and Şehit Cem Ersever Street in the Yenimahalle Demetgül neighborhood saw another land collapse, adding to the chaos.
Destructive Flooding in Austria
On June 8th, Austria experienced severe storms and heavy rainfall leading to major flooding, with the city of Deutschfeistritz in the federal state of Styria particularly affected. The region received over 3.9 inches of precipitation, transforming streams into raging torrents. Residents were urged to stay indoors due to life-threatening conditions.
Deadly Flooding in Vietnam
Starting on June 8th, torrential rains caused flooding and landslides in northern Vietnam, inflicting significant damage to people and property. Among the hardest-hit areas were the provinces of Quang Ninh, Hạ Long, Cao Bằng, and the city of Haiphong.
According to the Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Operations, as of the morning of June 11th, four people had died and one was missing due to the floods and landslides.
The strongest earthquake of the year on the Korean Peninsula
On June 12, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck near the southwestern county of Buan in North Jeolla Province, marking the strongest tremor recorded on the Korean Peninsula this year. The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) reported that the earthquake hit at 8:26 a.m., 204 kilometers south of Seoul at a depth of 5 miles. As of 9 a.m., eight aftershocks with magnitudes below 2 had been recorded.
Unexpected Flooding in Florida
On June 12th, a tropical depression unleashed abnormally heavy rainfall across much of South Florida. The region received between 3 to 8 inches of rain , while areas like Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, and Aventura recorded between 10 to 15 inches of rainfall on Wednesday alone. Reports also indicated an incredible 25 inches of rain in the metro Miami area.
Tornado in China
On June 13th, northeastern China was hit by a series of powerful storms. The city of Harbin, and the provinces of Heilongjiang and Hebei experienced rare extreme weather conditions with thunderstorms, strong winds, and powerful tornadoes.
