TOPIC: SIN - DESTROYER OF SPIRITUAL FIRE

SCRIPTURE: And because wrongdoing will be increased, the love of most people will become cold.

Matthew 24:12 (Bible in Basic English)

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When sin increases, the fire of God in the life of people is quenched.

Sin has been confirmed to quench the fire of God in the life of the believer. Iniquity quenches passion for God in the heart of a person. The abundance of iniquity has weakened the spiritual fire of many Christians.

Many years ago, I used to know a young man. Whenever he stepped into a place, demons would be screaming and crying out because he carried unusual spiritual fire and anointing of God.
His life was burning for God and he was setting everyone around him on fire for Jesus Christ. The intensity of the fire he carried made him to do many things for God. He was heavily anointed.

However, few years down the line, this young man came to a point where he lost the fire of God in his life.

What happened?
How could such a heavily anointed person lose the fire of God? Iniquity set in and quenched the fire.
Today, this very young man has no connection with ministry. Very pathetic!

You see, when iniquity abounds, the love of many people would wax cold. When sin increases, the fire of God in the life of people is quenched. The lifestyle of sin quenches the fire and passion for God in a man’s life.

Beloved, I would like you to check the quality of your passion for God in your own life. What is the intensity of your prayer life? Has the fire of God in your life reduced? If so, what could be the lifestyle in you that quenched the passion you used to have for God?

Today, there are some offices or neighbourhoods you step into, and you begin to struggle with your prayer life. There are some people you hang around with, and you begin to lose the fire of your prayer altar.

Any time you see someone who was once on fire for God, but has now backslidden and become a drunkard, smoker, or womanizer, you should know that we are in the end time. There are Christian sisters who were once on fire for God, but have now backslidden to a point of marrying stark unbelievers.

Beloved, refuse to let the sin of this world quench your fire and passion for God.

Remember this: When sin increases, the fire of God in the life of people is quenched.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. By all means, refuse to let your fire and passion for God reduce; fan your fire to more flames.
2. Make up your mind never to indulge in anything that will either reduce or kill your fire.

PARAYER: Lord, I ask that You help me to keep burning for You. Deliver me from every activity, lifestyle or association that will quench Your fire in me, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
