My children's book author interview with Jillian Fanning in our writers on their writing process series. We talked about finding an illustrator, as well as the creative, editorial, and publishing process of writing children's books. We go in depth about not only finding an illustrator but also what to discuss with one. Jillian Fanning, author of the picture book A Giraffe in the Forest: A Geoff and Banks Adventure, which was a top new release in two categories: Children's Forest and Trees and Mammals.

Jillian is a former elementary education teacher. While teaching, she saw firsthand the joy children’s books brought to her students, and she loved sharing that excitement with them. Now, as a stay-at-home mom, she wants to continue bringing that excitement to children by writing her own books. Her debut children’s book, A Giraffe in the Forest, was released on February 6th, 2024, and it’s just the beginning of her adventure as a children’s book author. Today we be talking about the creative, editing, and publishing process of children's books, especially how to work with an illustrator.
