Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hasdissolved his six-member war cabinet, just over a weekafter the departure of centrist opposition leader BennyGantz and his ally Gadi Eisenkot.

Sensitive issues about the war with Hamas in Gaza willnow be discussed by a smaller forum, Israeli media has reported.

Mr Netanyahu had faced demands from far-rightministers in his governing coalition to join the warcabinet, which could have further strained ties with theUS and other international allies.

A spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) saidthat as far as it was concerned, it would not affect thechain of command.
