The Truth About Judgement and the Promised Messiah - Genesis 3 - Part 3

In this message, Pastor Chad examines Genesis 3 verses 11 to the end of the chapter. We will see that God confronts Adam with his sin and that Adam's initial response was to blame Eve. When God addressed Eve, she didn't necessarily shift the blame but admitted the serpent deceived her and then she ate. The Lord then begins to deliver the sentence for the sin committed. The serpent would crawl on its belly. The woman would be subject to her husband and would have pain in bearing children. Adam would have to work very hard too because the ground was now cursed. Both Adam and Eve would be driven from the garden. Finally, death would come and they would return to dust.

In the midst of it all, God gives the promise of the Messiah. The goodness of God is revealed. Satan would bruise the Messiah's heel. The heel wound expresses the suffering and even physical death of Christ, but not of ultimate defeat. Jesus would crush the serpents head, a mortal wound bringing utter defeat.

The death of Christ lies in the purpose of God and that was set in place before the world was even created.
