In this tutorial we look at the defense against a Muay Thai Kick. These particular kicks are not easy to defend against, especially when confronted by an experienced fighter.

The first way block a Muay Thai kick is with your shin. That is used by MMA fighters but it's not necessarily recommended in a self defense situation as it can injure your leg.

The second defense against a Muay Thai kick is to intercept it by kicking your opponent's leg. Another option is to block the kick with your arms. But, be aware that it leaves you vulnerable to getting punched in the face.

The best option is to step out as the kick is coming in and step back in again immediately to strike your attacker. You can also anticipate the kick of your attacker and step in before he commits to strike him first.
