The lesson on June 16, 2024 was part 31 of the "Wisdom" study. Wayne quickly reviewed what we learned in the previous lesson and then focused on Proverbs 30. We looked at the structure of the chapter from the Companion Bible, where it shows 30.1-33 THE WORDS OF AGUR. In Proverbs 30:1 "The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal," The meaning of these names in some cases is uncertain. Agur = “gathered”; Jaker = “blameless”; Ithiel = “God is with me”;
Ucal = “devoured”. The Hebrew word for "the man" is "geber" when means "Strong man". It continues in Proverbs 30:2-3 "2 Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man. 3 I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy." What do we know of this "man"? Verse 4 brings it all together. 4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? (Prov. 30:4 KJV). Every word of God is pure... the Hebrew word for pure means "to refine". Proverbs 30:6 says " 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. This ties in the study we have covered "Bible Inspiration and Preservation" which is a huge problem in Christianity today. You can't have two bibles where one is teaching something and the other is saying something else or not at all! "6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. "7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." (Psalms 12:6-7 KJV).
We looked at some passages that covered inspiration and preservation.

The scripture reading was from Proverbs 30:1-6 KJV "1 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,2 Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man. 3 I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy. 4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his
son's name, if thou canst tell? 5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."
