He increased literacy rate from 10% to 90%, doubled the minimum wage, took his country out of poverty with NO LOANS from the IMF (which generally results in economic enslavement), etc.

The Libyan people loved Gaddafi, as did many Arabs. Unfortunately, he had dreams of making a Pan-African currency, threatening the monopoly the United States had over the world with the petrol dollar, and held vital positions of trade such as Tripoli and Ben Ghazi which he could strategically use in order to gain leverage against Europe, and thusly the United States.

He rose his country to such an esteemed status, and bludgeoning INDEPENDENT economic force in such a short period of time; everytime a nation (i.e. Russia, China) does this it becomes a threat to the United States' world dominance and the mass multimedia corporations spread mass propaganda (i.e. that Gaddafi supported terrorism, or that his people saw him as a ruthless dictator) that are unsubtantiated by real evidence.
