Eric demonstrates amp buzz / rattle with (possibly) defective Orange Crush CR60 from Sweetwater 🎸 - June 15, 2024 #1

I purchased an Orange Crush CR60 amp and a purple Jackson Dinky with floyd rose trem and received them from Sweetwater almost 2 months ago now. This is my only guitar and amp and when I first noticed issues was about 2 weeks after playing it. I work all day, so I have only been able to play it for about 15 minutes in my bedroom 3 times a week. I also have never turned the volume up to eleven, let alone past 5. In fact, I mostly keep it on 4. All this is to say I've been very delicate with the equipment and haven't abused it.

THE ISSUE: I was playing guitar and the high E string suddenly snapped. I was doing a half-step bend -- nothing crazy and in the 30+ years I've been playing, I've never had a string snap on a guitar I've only been playing for 2 weeks. Every player knows strings snap - but in my experience, it takes months or years of "hobby" playing (much sooner with pro gigging) for a string to snap. So, this came a quite a shock. But, that wasn't the worst. Immediately after the string snapped, there was a "buzz" that I thought was coming from the low E on the guitar.

When I contacted my Sweetwater rep, he advised that floyd rose tremolos are under tension and to try restringing the guitar with new strings. After I got the high E replaced and the guitar tuned, I was disappointed to heart that not only was the "buzz" still there, it was also occuring on the middle and high strings as well. What I'm observing is this:

1. The dirty channel masks the issue
2. On the clean channel you can really hear the buzz / rattle and it seems to be coming from the amp, not the guitar
3. I tugged on the grille slightly because some only suggest there's issues with fabric grille touching the speaking that can cause a buzz. But, the rattle/buzz was still there.

So, I made this video to try to demonstrate the sound. But, I'm having a hard time hearing the issue in the recording, so chances are the guys at Sweetwater won't be able to hear it either. But, at least I have it documented.

I am looking forward to this being a long lasting musical relationship with Sweetwater, but I don't relish the though of having to pack up and send defective equipment back.

Let's see what advice my Sweetwater Sound rep has.
