Join Rayford Steele, Chloe Steele, Buck Williams, and Bruce Barnes as they navigate a world turned upside down by the Rapture. These new believers, known as "Tribulation Saints," face the monumental challenge of combating Antichrist Nicolae Carpathia's sinister agenda to eradicate all religion and enforce a single, atheistic world doctrine. After being demoted, Buck moves to Chicago and contemplates a relationship with Chloe Steele, leading to misunderstandings that are eventually resolved. Invited to the UN in New York City, Buck encounters Carpathia's radical plans, including his ambition to control all media, with Buck as the potential head of a key newspaper. Carpathia, manipulated by his new assistant Hattie Durham, also coerces Rayford into becoming his chief pilot. Both Rayford and Buck witness the signing of a pivotal treaty between the UN and Israel.

Carpathia distorts the teachings of world-renowned Rabbi Tsion Ben-Judah, claiming the title of Messiah for himself. Buck travels to Jerusalem, introduces Ben-Judah to the two witnesses at the Wailing Wall, and Ben-Judah converts to Christianity, denouncing Carpathia's false claims.

During the prophesied 18 months of peace following the covenant with Israel, Chloe marries Buck, and Rayford weds new believer Amanda White, a friend of his late wife Irene. Buck becomes the publisher of Global Community Weekly, while Rayford pilots Carpathia's jet. They helplessly watch as Carpathia, now the Supreme Potentate of the Global Community, strengthens his grip on the world, orchestrating World War III to subdue former world powers. Carpathia deceives Israeli botanist Chaim Rosenzweig into handing over his Eden formula in exchange for a false peace treaty with Israel, initiating the Tribulation.
