Vehicle certificate of origin

A Vehicle Certificate of Origin (sometimes known as Manufacturer's Statement of Origin or MSO) resembles a title but serves a different purpose. It includes the vehicle identification number (VIN) and signifies that the car was manufactured by a specific factory, such as Chevy, Ford, Honda, or Toyota. This document does not transfer ownership to a retail buyer but confirms the vehicle's origin before it is titled to an individual or dealership. If your car has never been titled, you must use the Certificate of Origin to establish its origin and subsequently title it in your name.
