Solomon completes the temple after 20 years of work. God appears to Solomon and makes promises to him. The promises made to Solomon are also applicable to us. God promises to establish Solomon's throne forever if he walks in integrity and obedience. There is a cause and effect relationship between how we walk in life and how God blesses us. God disciplines those he loves. We should rejoice in his discipline as it shows his love for us. Solomon's marriage to the daughter of Pharaoh was not a wise decision and led to his downfall. Despite Solomon's failures, God keeps Israel together to bring Jesus, the fulfillment of the promises to David, Abraham, and the prophecy in the Garden of Eden.
