Episode 122: I rescued and restored this Lionel Quicksilver Express passenger train for less than $50!

First, I found the cars and dummy ALCO FA diesel in a "junk box" under a dealer table at a local train show. I took it home for $25.

Then, I bought a Postwar Texas Special FA (and a small Lionel transformer) from eBay for $19!

I cleaned the entire set, swapped the motor from the Postwar FA into the MPC dummy, replaced a few light bulbs, resoldered a wire, 3D printed two new couplers and...voila! My new-to-me passenger set!

Toy Train Tips And Tricks is a channel devoted to the operation, repair, history, and collecting of classic 3-rail O and O27 gauge trains made by Lionel, Marx, K-Line, Menards, and other manufacturers.

Keep the trains running!
