China system cannot be duplicated easily because China citizens raise up with long history of civilization. The past history of turbulence, violence of the common people made them strong resourceful and patrotic. Education made them aware to be grateful to the government efforts to improve their lives. Jia you China. Long live President Xi Jinping!!!

China's president and politicians are scholars and academic doctors, philosophers in their own right. It should always be the most skilled and proven who lead the country.

I've been researching the Chinese model for a short time and I gotta say the system is quite remarkable and very solid. I don't think the average American has a clue of what you are doing. In many aspects, China has far surpassed the US. From the mega projects, political stability, to the economy the progress is astounding. I think Trump is trying stop China's economic growth but I believe he's too late. I don't think there is nothing he can do to stop the growth and I believe his policies towards China is a dangerous game for the US. I got mad respect for China and your achievements.

As a proud Chinese, I agree that the “china model” is bring forward the vitality in all of us. The expectation that in the next 5, 10 years is going to be amazingly better than now is without a doubt the feeling of most Chinese people. However, there are still many challenges that we need to overcome. Graft, corruption, health care, education, food safety, rude professionals (doctors, public servants, teachers, bank tellers etc.), lack of a sense of civil responsibility, pollution, income inequality and much more are just some items on a long list. The march is still on. I'm confident that my children will have a much shorter list to complaint about.

Well, the Chinese should thank the Chinese people, because their own productivity far outstrips FDI. Even during the early times when China was very poor, just opening up, FDI was never more than 6.5% of its GDP, and trending down from there all the way. So obviously China should thank herself about, eh, 15 to 25 times more than to all foreign investors.

There's an old Egyptian proverb that's thousands of years old... It goes something like this, "It is foolish for one man to criticize another for the sand in his doorway when a mountain of garbage covers his own house.

I think people underestimate China because they have not been shown just how civilised and forward-thinking it truly is. As an Australian, I was not really aware of what China has achieved (eg. poverty alleviation, amazing infrastructure) until I visited in 2017. People just assume it to be a poor developing country with a totalitarian government and extreme pollution. People just need to be exposed to the reality more.

The Prof is right on, the fatal flaw in western democracy is the assumption that all people are rational and well-politically informed.
