Discovery Tours, the company that left thousands of students and dozens of Ohio districts in a lurch, filed for bankruptcy Monday, but it's still unclear what went wrong and where all of the money paid for school trips has gone. In the Cincinnati area, Fairfield, Madeira, and Taylor Junior High in Cleves were forced to cancel their spring trips to Washington, DC and Chicago. The Discovery Tours Chapter 7 claim reports the company has about $1.4 million in assets but owes as much as $3.9 million. 9 On Your Side's sister station in Cleveland, WEWS, found that before the company filed for bankruptcy, the owner and vice president of Discovery Tours were still taking money from clients for trips and paying themselves and their family.
