Fundamentals of Exponents – 1: Identifying the Base and Exponent

Demonstrates the main purpose of exponential notation, as shorthand to greatly reduce the amount of writing required. Looking at some numerical exponential expressions, the bases and exponents are identified. Particular attention is paid to how the presence of grouping symbols in expressions can change the results, given the same components. In this series, some of the topics and concepts from our new Pre-Algebra workbook series are highlighted.
