White House does not rule out Hunter Biden commutation

The White House did not rule out the possibility of President Joe Biden commuting any sentence for his son Hunter Biden, following Hunter’s federal gun trial conviction.

White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre, addressing reporters on Wednesday, stated that she had no new information beyond what the president had previously stated about the case.

Hunter Biden was found guilty by a Delaware jury on Tuesday on three charges related to falsifying information about his drug use while purchasing a gun in 2018.

Jean-Pierre clarified that she had not discussed the matter of commutation with President Biden directly, pointing to his earlier remarks that he would not pardon his son.

She also declined to comment on the president’s activities on Tuesday evening when he unexpectedly traveled to Wilmington, Delaware, after the verdict, the BBC has reported.
