What is the farthest you have ever run? A marathon? A 5K? Maybe just around the block? No matter how far you had to go, it all had to start somewhere. You can't just lace up your shoes and suddenly be Jackie Joyner Kersey or some other more timely runner reference. It all starts at the very beginning. Nowadays, you can download helpful apps that help you get up to speed and keep you at a healthy pace so you don't overdo it all at once. That is a big temptation for runners early in their training. They go: "Hey! I just ran around the neighborhood, why not 3 MORE miles!" But then they realize they can not and their body betrays them and they decide they would rather not run at all anymore. It's happened to me and it's happened to most of us. Running isn't easy! That is why walking is such a popular trend. It keeps the blood flowing, the body fat down and according to some studies, it is actually just as good as a light jog. That being said, it also takes probably 3 times as long. Would you rather a run a mile or walk a mile? I guess it really depends what else you have to do that day. An easy day? Sure, I'll probably go for a nice, medium pace leisurely walk. Busy day? I'm hauling booty to get to my goal is the shortest possible amount of time.
