Will Corbyn end up a victim of his own success in this election?

Right, so Jeremy Corbyn’s campaign for re-election has finally launched, he is running as an independent and I’m reminded of how many people, when Starmer did him dirty as we all too well remember, said back then and in the time since leading up until now, who said, wherever in the country they came from, they’d head to Islington North and campaign for him if he ran as an independent. Well now is that time. The campaign has launched and Jeremy looks, not to have this in the bag as many think, in fact his re-election is anything but, and you could almost say the reason for that is because he’s a victim of his own success.
Right, so Jeremy Corbyn’s re-election campaign has launched, polls are saying he’s got it won from what I’ve seen, but that doesn’t corroborate with the underlying research of his campaign team and those co-ordinating.
Now you might be thinking after the way Starmer has treated him, after a Starmerroid private health CEO has been imposed as the Starmer candidate now, let’s not call this a Labour move, let’s not pretend these are really Labour people, this is how far the party has fallen into Torylitism and when this guy Praful Nargund is out campaigning and all the support he can muster whilst pounding the streets leaflets in hand is Margaret Hodge and to the extent he or someone connected to his campaign are actually photoshopping people into promotional photographs now, to make it look like he has more support than he actually does, heads too high, legs missing, it is quite hilarious how desperate Labour’s campaign appears to be and how poor their graphics department are, a 5 year old with an etch a sketch could probably do something more believable.
But as much as we can mock his campaign, that doesn’t make Nargund any less dangerous a prospect for parliament.
A multimillionaire private health CEO in the IVF market is Corbyn’s Labour rival. He runs a chain of IVF clinics, called abc IVF, founded by his mother Geeta Nargund, who is the chain’s medical director.
In the blurb on their page though, it mentions she’s also the medical director of abc IVF’s sister clinic CREATE Fertility and if you want an idea of what this private heath CEO millionaire Praful Nargund would likely do in parliament, the story of CREATE is it.
You see Nargund’s wealth comes in no small part, it is alleged, due to the sale of CREATE in 2021, which City AM wrote an article on titled ‘Sale of CREATE Fertility marks biggest deal in UK’s IVF sector ever.’
CREATE was acquired by IVIRMA Global, a US IVF company, US private healthcare, when they purchased a majority stake in CREATE. But, in doing so, crucially, they gave the US IVF market an in to the UK market. Whilst the Nargund’s IVF treatments became available in the US. But by buying into CREATE, sister company and all of that to abc, they have bought into abc and a Danish company in their network called Vitanova as well, 21 clinics in all. Nothing has changed on the outside, the same people are running the clinics, the Nargund’s are still the public face, but in exchange for a slice of the US pie, they’ve allowed the US and US private health interests a foot in the door to the UK IVF market too. Now imagine Praful Nargund working alongside Wes Streeting, to privatise even more of the NHS, he’s got the US private health connections, so whilst it’s easy to mock this guy, to point out how poor his campaign seemingly is, it’s a big risk to underestimate the threat he actually poses.
But surely Jeremy is bound to win? He has his record, he’s been the MP since 1983, people come up to him to chat in the street, you can easily be fooled into thinking that this is all a done deal, that Corbyn doesn’t actually need you now, doesn’t need us anymore, such is the farce Labour have put on show. It’s not the case though and Jeremy himself it can be arguably be seen to be the reason for that.
Now I’m not going to point at the garbage thrown at him ahead of the 2019 General Election and the nonsense some in politics or our media continue to bleat about, such is how sad they are, such is the fact Jeremy still lives rent free in their heads. The problem is Jeremy is, despite running as an Independent as many of us now know, is still heavily associated with Labour, for so many people across North Islington, people not as into politics as we are, those outside of the media and social media bubbles we can become too easily ensnared by, many still figure him to be the Labour candidate and as you can appreciate that is a massive problem for Corbyn and huge benefit to Nargund, if Mr private health picks up votes meant for Corbyn because people just looked for the box next to Labour on their ballot and put a cross in that. It’s a genuinely massive issue, Corbyn potentially losing his seat because he himself was too good at his job, too good at representing Labour when it was still Labour and now Starmer and his ilk may reap the benefit of that. How unfair would that be? How disgraceful?
So as you can appreciate, getting people out on the streets, on the doorsteps, people descending on North Islington in their droves as so many talked about on social media should Jeremy go independent and now that he has, he actually needs that help more than ever, to get the word, talk to people explain that he is now an Independent candidate, that Labour spurned him, did him dirty, and who they’ve replaced them with and who they face as an MP should they mistakenly vote by party rather than candidate and we all do it don’t we? How many of us look for the party, swayed by what we read or watch rather than investigate who people really are? How many of us have walked away from Labour because of Starmer, not that most of us would actually be voting for him?
Well the campaign to get Jeremy re-elected and get the message out that really, needs to now get out, is now underway and if you want to join in, then you need to get your backside over to www.votecorbyn.com where you can register your support and your availability. There will also be a big NHS day rally on Saturday with an attack on private healthcare and standing up for our NHS, something Starmer’s Labour are not going to do and with candidates like Nargund and the narratives coming from Streeting, Tory privatisation of the NHS will very much continue.
Many people will be going out to vote for Jeremy Corbyn in Islington North. Across social media there are video clips, there are people sharing stories of their experiences of having a decent, genuine MP like Corbyn and who will be going out to vote for him. How many risk voting Labour by mistake if the message doesn’t get out that Labour doesn’t mean Jeremy? If you have the time, you have the commitment, you can make those dates, or others coming in the near future, then do go and visit votecorbyn.com, make your availability known and be part of ensuring Jeremy’s voice will be there for the next parliament, once again speaking up for the many and not the few.
