An 11-year-old boy with autism left “devastated” by the closure of his local Toys'r'Us shop has been given official logos and signs - to build his own shop at home.

Blue Martin had been visiting the giant toy shop since he was a toddler and used to spend hour and hours re-watching all of their advertisements on YouTube. News that the Gloucester shop was closing left Blue heartbroken. His parents had to console him for weeks following the announcement. His mother Becky, 43, in the effort to make her son understand the situation tweeted the store and asked if they could have the last visit on their day of closing.

She tweeted: "Dear Toys R Us I am sorry to hear your Gloucester store is closing today. My autistic son Blue is devastated and would really like one of your logo signs please. Is this possible? We would pick it up today."

Gordon Brothers, the receivers of the store, got in touch with Becky within a day inviting them over. Blue needed to physically go there to understand there is no shop anymore. He believed that if it was closed it had to re-open again, sooner or later. What they say was a completely empty former Toys’r’Us store: no shelves, no toys, nothing. However, the employees there gave gifts of a Geoffrey giraffe, two massive LEGO logos and an opening times sign to recreate the store in Blue’s room.
