Fiery bright orange lava from Kilauea flows through Hawaii

The violent Kilauea volcano has triggered an eye-watering 40 earthquakes in just 24 hours as the beast erupts prompting a mass evacuation of more than 1,700 residents.

The highest magnitude quake over the period has been recorded at a magnitude of 3.6 with the majority peaking at around 2.6.

Deadly lava has spewed from the volcano into the surrounding villages, forcing thousands to evacuate the area in fear of their lives.

The volcano, in the southeastern part of the Big Island, is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and has been erupting on and off for hundreds of thousands of years.

Kilauea has been erupting continuously since 1983.
